7th Annual Michèzo! International Festival
Bloor St. West between Ossington & Christie
Hello friends & fans!
This summer's highly anticipated African island celebration has been RESCHEDULED to AUGUST 29-30, 2009 on the mainland. Due to the lingering, post garbage strike jungle, Michèzo! is "taking it to the streets," teaming-up to celebrate with our sister festival, AfriVillage Fest, courtesy of AMiBA-Michezo Artistic Director, Kobena Aquaa-Harrison and AfriVillage Fest founder, Mesfun Y Haile.
A film element, provided by the Toronto African Film & Music Fest, will make this the first & only triple African festival weekend in Canada.
The new dates are officially Sat-Sun August 29, 30 at Bloor St. W from Ossington to Christie Pits. Please let your friends know so they're not left "Sittin' by the dock of the bay, wastin' time"
Michèzo! is an interactive celebration of traditional African cultural arts. Michèzo! showcases African folk music, dance, drumming, food, storytelling and childhood games created through the ingenuity of African people. Usually, Michèzo! returns to its Toronto Island home the 3rd Saturday of August each year. Hosted by AfriVillage Fest in the city of Toronto this year only.
